The Arbor Day Foundation has announced that the Borough of Bergenfield was named a Tree City USA community for its commitment to urban forestry. The Arbor Day Foundation is a non-profit, environmental and education organization of more than 1-million members, with a mission to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees.It is the 10th year Bergenfield has earned this national honor from the Arbor Day Foundation, the nation’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to planting trees.

Bergenfield Family Fun Day will be held on June 3, 2012 at Memorial Park from 1 p.m. through 6 p.m. (raindate June 17).

During the record setting wet weather events throughout 2011, the Bergen County Utilities Authority’s water pollution control facilities, pump stations, and trunk sewers exceeded their capacities resulting in a number of sanitary sewer overflows (SSO’s).

The Aversa Tournament is free. Each player is asked to donate two cans of food for the Food Pantry. The Tournament is co-sponsored by the Bergenfield Recreation Committee and the Bergenfield Bocce League.

The Bergenfield Health Department will be launching a NEW adult vaccination program for 2012. Vaccines that will be immediately available will include Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, combination Hep A/ Hep B, Meningococcal, Pneumonia, and combination Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis. If there is another vaccination that you need, please contact us so that we can see if it is available through the State of NJ.

The fee schedule for these vaccines is as follows:
1. $16.00 per vaccination for single dose injections.
2. $11.00 per additional vaccination for multi-dose vaccines requiring a series of injections.
3. $12.00 per vaccination for single dose intranasal or oral vaccine.
4. $8.00 per vaccination for each additional multi-dose intranasal or oral dose vaccine.

The Borough of Bergenfield is looking for a person to serve as an Alternate Tenant Representative to the Rent Leveling Board which meets on the first Wednesday Night of each month at 7:00 pm in the Civic Room at Borough Hall. Anyone who is interested should contact the Mayor’s office at Borough Hall.
