Bergenfield annual 5K and Fun Run on Sunday, November 13, 2011

[Press Release:] BCCBF 2011 5K Includes EHMC Challenge Grant to Bergenfield Residents

The 14th Annual 5K Run/Walk sponsored by the Bergenfield Community Center Building Fund Committee (BCCBF) will take place on Sunday, November 13  at Bergenfield High School with starting time for the Fun Run at 9:15am, and the 5K Run/Walk at 10:30am. Check-in and registration begins at 8:30am.

Englewood Hospital (EHMC), a long time supporter of the BCCBF 5K has once again offered a Challenge Grant for the Annual 5K Run/Walk.   EHMC will donate $2,000 to the BCCBF if 300 registered runners and walkers from Bergenfield participate in the 2011 5K. All runners are welcome but the challenge is based on resident registration.  The 300 number includes registration for the 5K or the Fun Run.

For information on the Fun Run or the Run/Walk, contact Mark D’Esposito at 201-385-9539, or go to BestRace.com.  Registration forms at Bergenfield5K.com can be downloaded or completed online.  Forms and checks made out to the Bergenfield Community Center Building Fund (BCCBF) should be mailed to BCCBF, 50 Home Place, Bergenfield, NJ 07621.  

A pre-race Pasta Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, November 12, at the Bergenfield Elks Lodge #1477, sponsored by the Elks and the BCCBF.  The pasta dinner is free for registered runners and $5.00/person for the public.  Children under 12 are admitted free.  The dinner, from 5-8 pm, will include a raffle, a 50/50 drawing, and prizes.  Dinner reservations should be e-mailed to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Bergenfield Elks, the Junior Woman’s Club, and students from Bergenfield High School are hands-on in supporting the activities of this special 5K weekend, which includes a food drive for the Bergenfield pantry.  Donations can be brought to the 5K and placed in the drop-off box in the BHS gym.
“Every step counts in this 5K.  Every step brings us closer to our goal of a community center to serve the residents of Bergenfield,” said Mark D’Esposito, BCCBF 5K Run/Walk chairman.  “We are appreciative of the support of residents and local and area businesses which is a key element in our progress to date.”

Funds raised by the BCCBF (a 501( c )3 non-profit) are dedicated to the construction of a community center for Bergenfield.
